What is creepygaming? This subreddit is a place for all the creepy, seemingly unintentional/out of place things that happen in video games. A home for ARG's, obscure games, creepypasta, personal stories relating to scary experiences, haunted games, myths, glitches, creepy easter eggs. Allowed Content:. Strange and creepy occurrences surrounding games that are otherwise not creepy in the same way. Personal stories about your creepy experiences in games. Games of obscure nature.
ARGs and creepypasta related to games. Creepy myths, glitches, and easter eggs in games. Rules:. This subreddit is not focused on regular horror games. All submissions must pertain to at least 1 of the subjects in the list of allowed content in the sidebar & fit with the general theme of the subreddit. No let's plays / reaction videos, unless linked to specific part that pertains to any of the subjects in the list of allowed content. No game trailers, or crowdfunding links.
Every submission must have a title that gives a clear description of what it's about, and what makes it fit into the themes of the subreddit. If it's about a specific game, the name of the game must be in the title. Sort by Content. Yeah, it's weird, because you'd think it's the creator of the game who is doing the playthrough, but for the most part, the Let's Play isn't 'well acted'.
It doesn't feel scripted. The guy is quiet a lot and says things like 'I don't know what to say about that' rather than commenting or expanding on what's going on.
He also seems to miss certain things that happen on screen. I've recorded at least a hundred hours of Let's Plays myself, so I constantly have that 'backseat driver' voice going through my head, critiquing how disengaged and dull the player seems most of the time.
But in a very weird way, in a context like this, that makes it more engaging. It makes it seem more authentic.
In entertaining the thought of this being a real unreleased title, I've been searching for other info about this game, or the company that made it, finding nothing. I can only assume, if it really is an unfinished game, that it is one of the most incredibly obscure things ever, or one of the best examples of capturing that PS1 style in an original title I've ever seen. So many small details; from the compression of the still loading screen images to the way everything's rendered, utilization of prerendered objects in the color room scenes and everything inbetween.
If OP is the creator, fucking kudos, amazing work. Can't wait to see more! I had a debate about this with my brother. I mean, all the psx graphical quirks can be replicated to some degree in modern engines, if one has the know-how and attention to detail for it.
The other route could be as a homebrew, but there's that huge technical learning curve to making stuff for the psx. He had also mentioned that he saw none of that classic Z-buffer warped texture flaw most PSX games had, but I made a gif from one of the videos that I'm pretty sure shows it The effect would be minimized by the forced camera angle. Regardless of which three possibilities; original, homebrew, or lost psx game, the premise is very interesting and I really want to see where this goes and if it'll ever get released. Um guys, I think I found 3 coincidences loking for the words 'Newmaker Plane', a term that comes up in the trhird video while reading the note in one of the kids' rooms. First I found about a girl called submitted to an (alternative child mental health interventions) known as REBIRTH TERAPY that ended up dying. The story apparently had international coverage.
It was a story from the 2000's but I don't know, this can clear up something? I found some parallels here, but I'm really not sure if ALL OF IT is connected, anyways, the fact that there is a mental health therapy called 'Rebirth' really was something interesting. The story behind this is incredibly disturbing, and there are a few significant similarities found within the game.
When Candace couldn't make it out of the cloth during the rebirth therapy, her 'therapist' repeatedly called her a quitter. In the 'quitter's room' within the game the narrator finds a piece of paper which asks 'Do you remember being born?' Then you have the mention in the third video of children being psychologically damaged 'beyond rebirthing.'
I think this is probably a main theme. I think the series as a whole is about foster kids, orphans, and the associated child abuse. Think about the actual 'game' that he plays before he goes to the secret stuff. It's meant to be an orphanage. From the first sign he encounters: 'The Gift Plane has closed indefinitely, and all personnel have left. If you are unaware, The Gift Plane provided homes to over a hundred young Pets. Unfortunately, we have failed to remove all of the Pets from their homes.
48 Pets remain here, at the time of writing. We would strongly encourage you to visit our 8 homes and find some friends to take with you. Every Pet is uniquely valuable. You should have no problem finding somebody that you love. The Gift Plane staff' From the second sign: 'When you're choosing a Pet, find someone that you like.
You don't have to love them right away. Don't be discouraged if they run from you! They really do want a home. They're afraid. Show them that there's nothing to be afraid of.'
The gameplay consists of puzzles where you have to trick these 'Pets' in order to catch them and take them out of their 'homes'. I think the point is clear. A lot of foster parents get kids for the money and treat them like shit. The kids are ripped away from their families and given to people who treat them more like pets than people. There are far too many stories of severe abuse with these children that no one seems to care about. Candace Newmaker is but one of many kids failed by this system, and I think she serves as one of this series's inspirations.
This seems like too much of a cooincidence to be unrelated- the article explains that the mother and defence lawyers in the case has described the chald as suffering from Reactive Attachment Disorder. Wiki link: The article states that 'RAD arises from a failure to form normal attachments to primary caregivers in early childhood. Such a failure could result from severe early experiences of neglect, abuse, abrupt separation from caregivers between the ages of six months and three years, frequent change of caregivers, or a lack of caregiver responsiveness to a child's communicative efforts. Not all, or even a majority of such experiences, result in the disorder.' This certainly ties into the repeating motif of 'Nobody Loves Me' we keep seeing here- neglect and abuse would lead a child to begin believing that no one cares for it.
